Sometimes inclement weather makes for spectacular photos. As we were touring the picturesque island of Mykonos Greece on our Viking Cruise shore excursion a few years ago, dark storm clouds rolled in with heavy rain. Kinderdijk is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that consists of 19 windmills built around 1740. The rural location is a living testament to how the Dutch have learned to control water for their benefit for over 1,000 years. A visit to Kinderdijk is usually part of a Viking River Cruise tour on the way to Amsterdam. © Karin Pezo
